Jay-Z and The Blueprint III (3) ...

To Hate or Not To Hate!

I'm not a Jay - Z Fan ... I dunno the guy just doesn't make the hairs on my arm stand up! lol
But I do like some of his songs off the Bluprint III:
"Run This Town"
"On to the Next One"
"Star is Born"
"Empire State of Mind" (Kinda)
"Venus vs. Mars"

But my Favorite of ALL is

"HATE!"

I don't hate on Jay - Z, I just don't like him, his lyrics are good but his delivery doesn't appeal to me but on this album I think the beats compliment his flow and these above songs are cool!

lol ... The best part about this album is that "Ima Hater" and this song speaks right to me ...

His line: "I made my self so easy to LOVE!" Cracks me up Every time ...

I don't think ima hater I just think I'm not a fan and people think that he's so good that there must be something wrong with me to be in disagreement!

O Well! :-)

How To Be a GREAT Friend ...

A Few Things I've Picked up in MY Day!

There are Three Phases to a RELATIONSHIP/ FRIENDSHIP! Enjoy ...

To go along with each phase are some key points ... There are 3 Key points then there's 1 Major piece of advice I wanna leave you with ...

1) Initial - This is the 1st Meet and Greet this stage usually has high implications b/c most people foolishly make up there minds about a person entirely after their first encounter but try your best to have a good first impression.

The key to mastering this phase is leaving a lasting impression is REMEMBER the LITTLE THINGS! For Instance a Middle Name, Hometown, or Hobby, Birthday ... If there aren't any Little Things generated from the conversation create them yourself. For Ex: What's your favorite color, favorite food, favorite sport, etc. This will make you "seem" personable and score you bonus points if you actually remember these things and bring them out at the appropriate times.

To Counter REMEMBERING the LITTLE THINGS you have to REMEMBER the BIG THINGS ... lol Like Names, Other Major Info (Academic Major, Age, Year in School) ...

If you can do these two things you will successfully navigate phase 1) ...

2) Developmental - This is when you begin to feel a person out and see what there really about, so if you make it here you've either accepted the person as a friend or they somehow keep showing up in random places or have clung to someone else in your circle of friends.

One way to master the Developmental Phase is to be Respectful. This is easier said than done, but in order to be respectful you should give people there space, next you should have good body language and eye contact when your talking to someone or in there presence. Lastly, you should speak at a decent volume because if you talk too loud or too low you'll seem disrespectful uninterested or displeased to be in their presence so it's best to have a good volume.

The best key to being respectful is to LISTEN. Too OFTEN people don't listen and this is an easy way to ruin a relationship. Also a very important feature to any relationship is being able to hold a conversation with someone. If you have a tough time listening the developmental phase will be virtually impossible, so I highly encourage you be a good listener and your relationships/ friendships will develop smoothly.

3) Progressive - In this face you determine how serious you wanna make things. Either you want to be good friends, you want to "use" this person for lack of a better word or you want to rid of them altogether. If you make it to this phase then I'd say your doing pretty good and that person will likely be a good friend, but its your decision to make.

The Final Phase requires you to take some responsibility for your actions. in order to have a successful Progressive Phase you need to be accountable. This is simple, don't make promises you can't keep, be honest, respond to text and calls, and finally be honest with your friends. If you've successfully managed to work through the previous steps they won't take it too personally if you tel them bad news or are unable to do something as long as your straight forward with them. As a friend you should want people to be able to count on you and vice-versa it's at the root of all successful relationships and will help determine whether this person is worthy or a long-term commitment.

You and your friend should have more in common then both thinking Brad Pitt or Beyonce Knowles are HOT! That won't take you friendship very far it should be about MORE! If you have similar Goals, Motives, or Purposes for your LIFE then there's a good chance that you'll both be happy and growing simultaneously to your friendship. Otherwise when you surround yourself with "negative people" you don't tend to see results or and you lose site of your priorities as you'll notice most people look to there friends for support so if you don't choose them wisely, your setting yourself up for FAILURE!

Being a GREAT Friend isn't EASY ... Nor is it Always PRETTY, but if you take what I said above into account no matter how rough things get for you and your friends if you have a bigger purpose of a FRIENDSHIP than BEYONCE you will be just FINE!

Unless someone is your BEST FRIEND your going to have problems! It's the way of the WORLD!

Trey Songz - Fabolous - Mario October 4th @ Cornell University

From FB Description of Event Invitation:

Cornell University's Minority Concert Fund Advisory Board (MCFAB), Cornell Concert Commission (CCC), and the African, Latino, Asian, and Native American (ALANA) Program Board present Fabolous, Trey Songz, and Mario.

Trey Songz, a male R&B artist from Virginia and formerly known by the alias "Prince of Virginia" debuted in 2005 with his album I Gotta Make It. Rising in popularity ever since, Trey just released his third studio album, Ready, in August 2009 followed by his infectious summer smash "I Need A Girl." Trey Songz has also been known to collaborate on many songs with Fabolous, giving a swaggering croon to Fabolous' smooth rhymes.

Fabolous is a rapper from Brooklyn, NY who first hit the scene in 2001 with his single "Can't Deny It" from his hit album Ghetto Fabolous. Heavily influenced by southern hip hop from ATL, Fabolous has kept strong for nearly a decade and just released his fifth studio album, Loso's Way, in July 2009 to great critical acclaim. Now Fabolous, riding high on his summer success, makes his way to Barton Hall at Cornell University on October 4th.

Mario is not only a popular R&B performer, but also a Renaissance Man of the entertainment industry with credits in acting, modeling, dancing, and philanthropic activities. He catapulted onto the scene in 2002 with the hit single "Just a Friend 2002" off his self-titled debut album and kept the success going with "Let Me Love You" from 2004's Turning Point. With his fourth album, D.N.A., to be released on 10/13 (just a little over a week after the concert) we'll be sure to hear his summer single "Break Up" and hopefully many more new ones.

COMM 2010Oral Communication3.0
DSOC 1101Introduction To Sociology3.0
ECON 1110Introductory Microeconomics3.0
Total Credits:15

With 15 credit I should keep busy, but I shouldn't be in the Library 24/7 like most of the other Cornellians! :-)

AEM 2210: Financial Accounting seems like a cool class b/c so far in every Entrepreneurship class I have take they say that no matter what route you take in the Business World Entrepreneurial or not you better have a good handle on you Finances and the Accounting. Professor Little seems like a decent person and he has a cool personality so I'm looking forward to the Semester!

BioPl 2400: Green World/ Blue Planet seems like a very interesting class. I haven't taken a Bio course since my Freshman Year of high school so 'm touching up on all of the terminology and what not. Professor Silva has a great passion for the topic so this should bring some excitement to the class.

Comm 2010: Oral Communications will be a Fun class. As most people know I somewhat enjoy public speaking so this shouldn't be that difficult for me but with a more intensified evaluation I'm eager to see how I'll do. Our Discussion group seems pretty cool so I think the environment is healthy it will just be a mater of me executing or not. Professor Berggren loves what she does and you can feel her enthusiasm in every lecture, plus the TA's are pretty cool.

DSoc 1101: Developmental Sociology is a Weird Class that analyzing things you think about but on NEW Levels. lol I think it often confuses our professor when he poses a question to the class, but I like how it requires a diverse set of skills in terms of thinking it seems like it will be a FUN class so we'll see. Professor Hirschl is a cool down to earth person and I like the way he leads the class and how he covers the material thoroughly.

Econ 1110: Microeconomics ... I really dunno what to say Other than I hope it goes better this time around. It's a NEW Year and as a Sophomore I'm confident in how I will perform Academically so this class will be a testament to if I can really CHANGE! Professor Burkhauser is a iClicker FEIGN and so far I've done pretty good ... lol ... But it's week ONE so lets see how this goes ...

As MOST People know, Ima HUGE Beyonce FAN have been for a long time, but over time I've always felt like _____________ has had her Moments ... Not that she's close to or better than Beyonce but after watching this video I realized she is Talented and Looks good doing it, so check out this Video and see for yourselves ...

Me and the "Fresh Prince" Have the SAME Birthday! lol

That's not all we have in COMMON! The other night the author of the book "Training Camp" Jon Gordon was speaking to the ENTIRE FOOTBALL TEAM ... He's the Person who's book I blogged about earlier, but through his talk he touched on other individuals in society and why they were successful. He left me with a quote that just proved to me yet again why "Will Smith" is one of the FLYEST PEOPLE To walk the EARTH! ... Of course I'm biased because we share the same B-Day but there's more to this man he truly something special and a gifted actor ... The QUOTE that Proves this MANS Greatness ...

Will Smith:

"I'm not afraid to die on a treadmill. I will not be outworked. You may be more talented than me. You might be smarter than me. And you may be better looking than me. But if we get on a treadmill together, you are going to get off first or I'm going to die. It's really that simple. I'm not going to be outworked."

He's clearly a FIERCE Competitor ... You gotta LOVE IT!

I Hate Treadmills, but I believe that there's a part of me that is capable to share in his INSANITY! :-) I Love to Work Hard b/ c AFTERWARDS you FEEL like a Million Bucks ... Plus you walk away with the 8 Pack ... I Mean I Do ANYWAYS ... But Will Smith is the MAN and I really like this quote, thought I'd share it with yall ... Very few people are too talented for the competition so that isn't enough anymore ... Nowadays you need to have an unchallengeable work ethic in almost every aspect of life ... Will Smith expresses his EDGE in the Entertainment Industry as he will Outwork his Peers or Die Trying ... :-) Tough

Back to School! :-)

Kinda Excited, Cornell is Gonna be FLY This YEAR!

Camp Brings out the BEST in People ... Brandon Bing

Took this from BZ ... But this STORY must be TOLD! ...

In Life you can often be defined by the people you surround yourself with. To this day I have made a conscious effort of associating with people that live purpose driven lives and also that serve as a positive influence in some aspect to my life ... The picture above is of the 10th most influential person in my life "Brandon Bing." He continues to motivate me even though we haven't spoken it couple of days. COMPETITION is one of the BEST qualities LIFE has to OFFER. Brandon's story is inspiring and a developing one that I hope you all stay tuned because I know that in the END Bing will Be Successful! "It's in Our Blood!" ...

Entire Article:

It's rare that Brandon Bing hears footsteps -- he was the Pennsylvania state champion in the 200 and 400 meters in high school -- so it's not surprising when he says he doesn't hear them now, despite a freshman class at Rutgers that features three highly-touted cornerbacks.

That happens to be the position that Bing, a junior, plays as well.

But the 5-11, 180-pounder is applying the same Satchel Paige rule in his bid to become a first-time starter as he once did in track: Don't look back to see if anyone is gaining on you.

This is a big opportunity year for Bing, and he knows it. Devin McCourty is locked in as one starter at corner. But with Jason McCourty, last year's other cornerback starter, now with the Tennessee Titans, Bing knows there's a position up for grabs.

"This is the opportunity I've been waiting for and I'm trying to take advantage of it," Bing said after Rutgers wrapped up day five of preseason camp Saturday. "I know the opportunity is there now and if there's an opportunity you've got to do your best to get that spot.

"The opportunity was not there the past few years. Now that it's there you've got to push forward and separate from the pack."

Bing, from Wyncote, Pa., hasn't quite done that yet, since he's battling Billy Anderson and redshirt freshman Brandon Jones for the open corner spot.

But the difference in Bing's approach and focus is hard to ignore. After playing in parts of 23 games his first two years, his early play has been starter-worthy.

The trio of hotshot true freshmen -- Darrell Givens, Logan Ryan and Abdul Smith -- can't make the same claim just yet.

"What Bing has done so far, five practices in, is he has been consistent," head coach Greg Schiano said. "He's always been able to make spectacular plays, but then he gives up gimmes.
"Five days into it, he has been very consistent."

Bing said that being out of the shadow of at least one of the McCourtys -- and knowing his time in college is running out -- has given him the motivation he needed.

"Last year I was following the McCourtys and one of them left," he said. "I'm still following Devin because he's such a great player and great leader, but I'm also trying to be my own player now.

"Devin has talked to me and (cornerbacks coach coach Chris) Hewitt has taken me on the side and they've both said they needed me this year. My biggest thing is to be prepared and to be consistent."

To this point in his career, with the exception of an interception against Louisville last year and six tackles against Cincinnati two seasons ago, Bing has made his most lasting impression at Rutgers with his feet.

He's fast. Very fast.

But it has taken this long for him to understand that speed alone, exceptional as his is, isn't enough.

"You have to go beyond that," he said. "You can be a fast guy and not be a football player. You've got to do other things in football that can out-shine fast. You've got to make plays.
"This is football, not track and field. I know track and field. In football you've got to do a lot more."

So far he has, putting himself in a position where a good first scrimmage on Tuesday could be enough to elevate him to first-team corner opposite McCourty. For depth chart purposes now, Anderson is holding that spot.

But, as Bing knows, it's just five days in.

"I don't want to jump the gun," he said. "I just want to continue to focus on the now. I don't want to worry about the sixth day or the seventh day. I don't want to think about the future. I don't even want to think about the results.

"I'm just worried about right now and what I need to do to get on the field and help this team."
Bing is noticeably bigger than he was the past two years, which won't hurt his cause. More significant, that added bulk and muscle haven't taken away from what remains his biggest asset.

"I haven't slowed down," he said.
